Minky Tips

Minky can be difficult and frustrating to work with. Here are a few tips to help you out.

*Minky does not have to be prewashed. Remember though if you are sewing it to another fabric such as flannel, that fabric must be washed. The project may not lay right, otherwise due to shrinkage after washing.

*Play with your stitch length. I prefer a longer length.

*Do not iron Minky. It will ruin nap.

*Pins are your friend. Minky can shift. Use pins. DO NOT SEW OVER THEM.

*Lots of fuzz is left behind, care for your machine.

*Always use a ball point needle.

I am having so much fun making my grandson (due in July) all sorts of soft cuddly things with Minky.

Spring Cleaning!

If you're anything like us, we are not the hugest fans of spring cleaning. But, during this time, we know how much of an advantage there is to having a well working, good filtering vacuum to help get the job done! While vacuuming may or may not be in the front of your mind when thinking about your spring cleaning process, here are a few tasks you may not have thought of to make this go a little bit smoother :)

Use your vacuum and attachments for:

~Inside cabinets and drawers

~Library and books

~Stairs

~Closets

~Pillows and furniture

~Mattresses

~Vehicles

~Draperies and valances

~Walls

~Mirrors

~Ceiling lights and fixtures

~Lamp shades

~Area rugs

~Routine dusting

~Even for "brushing" your pets to reduce shedding

And to add a little something special to this not-so-fun job, consider using a "scent tab". Sprinkle 1 tsp on the floor and vacuum up using a new vacuum bag or empty canister and during the life of the bag/canister your vacuum will smell like whatever fresh scent you chose!!!
